All women no matter what class or background they come from should have free access to healthcare.
Sylvia, Manchester

All debt should be written off by the IMF and World Bank. Caribbean countries need to stem the brain drain, and offer incentives for Caribbean health professionals to return home. We need to work with Caribbean women to increase their wealth through microcredit programmes, and opening up the global market Lobby governments to improve/change health care policies Educate our Caribbean sisters: knowledge is power!

I find the thought off-putting and scary living abroad. This is a block. I would like to know information on how to treat it (health issues) holistically or issues around prevention

More information to the public/people concerned. Without the debt, would they spend the money on training and teaching the people. Eg. In clinics.
Joy, Dunstable, Bedfordshire.

Drop the debt. Last year (it) was ‘Make Poverty History’. Has that made a difference?
Geoff, Dunstable, Bedfordshire

We need to contact our MPS and lobby to have the debt wiped. Slavery ended 200 years ago. We are still in slavery. How can the Caribbean (sic) get strong and be empowered and healthy if they are still in the shackles of debt. If everyone writes to their MP, they have to take notice if they receive more than 6 letters on the same subject.

I think it is very important to know about the healthcare of women in the Caribbean. This is talked about very little. It is good for awareness and to be educated of such.

On the hole, it has been a very interesting and informative afternoon (International Women’s Day event, 8 March 2008). I have enjoyed all the discussion. I think that the Caribbean women have got a lot to be proud of.
